Şirince to Kuşadası

Şirince is a picturesque old Greek village set in the hills about 8 km above Selçuk, famous for its fruit wines, stone houses and views. From Kuşadası it is around 28 km — about a 40 minute drive — but because the village sits up a winding hill road, public transport always routes via Selçuk below.

There is no direct minibus between Şirince and Kuşadası. The budget route is a short Şirince–Selçuk dolmuş (these run regularly up and down the hill through the day), then a change at Selçuk to a frequent Selçuk–Kuşadası minibus. It is cheap but involves a connection, so allow around an hour or more in total.

A private transfer is the easiest way to visit, taking you straight from your Kuşadası hotel up to the village in about 40 minutes with no change at Selçuk. It also lets you combine Şirince with Ephesus or the House of the Virgin Mary in one half-day, and wait while you explore and taste the local wines.

Şirince is busiest in the middle of the day when tour groups arrive; going earlier or later is more relaxed. The lanes are steep and cobbled, so wear comfortable shoes, and leave room in your bag for a bottle or two of the village’s well-known fruit wine.
