Selçuk sits about 19 km north-east of Kuşadası and is the gateway town to Ephesus, the Basilica of St John and the House of the Virgin Mary. The two are linked by a short, easy road, so getting between them takes only 25–30 minutes by car — one of the quickest transfers in the region.
Shared dolmuş minibuses run between Kuşadası otogar and Selçuk throughout the day, roughly every 20–30 minutes, for just a few euros paid on board. They are how most independent travellers reach Ephesus, and they also stop on request along the route. Allow a little longer than a direct drive as they make stops.
A private transfer or taxi covers the route in 25–30 minutes straight to your door. This is the natural choice if you arrive by train at Selçuk station (on the regional line from Izmir) with luggage, or want to combine the trip with a stop at Ephesus or Şirince along the way.
Selçuk has a railway station on the İzmir–Aydın–Denizli regional line, so some visitors reach it cheaply by train and then continue to Kuşadası. From the station it is a short walk to the dolmuş stand, or arrange a transfer to be met on arrival.
